Pandemonium struck today as a gas carrying vehicle was smashed by another truck at the Galilee area of the Ishaga-Eliot suburb, leading to huge inferno that destroyed several houses, cars, other valuables.
FirstNigeriaTV got to the scene of the unfortunate incident and spoke with some eye witnesses.
A young school boy who gave his identity as Kunle Adesiyan and claimed to be returning from school at the period of the incident told our correspondent, Osemobor Blessing, that the gas tanker loaded with the product was hit by another truck which led to leakage of the contents of the tanker and while spectators were scampering for safety, a loud bang produced intense fire that beclouded the whole vicinity.
Another resident at the Galilee area, a vulcaniser who claimed to be looking out for his apprentice whom he has sent on an errand before the blow also confirmed that although he had not seen anybody dead but a young man who had been badly torched was rushed to a nearby hospital for attention by sympathisers.
As at the time our correspondent left the scene, the fire was still raging and no one was yet to ascertain the number of lives lost.
