Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign as Minister of Petroleum on Sunday.
Primate Ayodele made the announcement in response to the country’s persistent gasoline shortage.
Primate Ayodele noted in a statement sent by his media aide that Buhari was incapable of handling the portfolio, especially at this critical time.
He suggested that the President resign honorably and pass over the reins to someone who knows the ins and outs of Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
In Ayodele’s words: “President Buhari should resign as minister of petroleum and hand over to someone who is capable of managing this crisis.
“This is not a thing to joke with. The economy is biting hard already, we need someone capable, Buhari isn’t capable to be the minister of petroleum. We need the right person who knows everything about our petroleum system.”
The resumption of long lines at gas stations was connected to the circulation of contaminated fuel.
Since February, Nigerians have been dealing with the issue of petroleum scarcity.
Meanwhile, the federal government promised that normalcy would be restored across the country soon.
