A 75-year-old business man, Alhaji Yusuf Mai-Fata was kidnapped on Saturday by gunmen at Sankara Village in Ringim local government area of Jigawa State.
The Police Spokesman SP Abdu Jinjiri told news men that the special anti-robbery squad of the command had already been deployed into the bush to identify the kidnappers.
One of the residents of the community said at about 2:00am, gunmen stormed the village and started shooting in the air before they took away the victim. He said they were about six armed men.
He said the victim was just discharged from the hospital two days before the incident. The families of the victim have been contacted by the abductors and a sum of N40m was demanded as ransome.
He further stated that the kidnappers have also asked the family members the type of food the victim eats and his medication.
