Video: WaterAid Nigeria commends LASG water/ sanitation/hygiene improvement efforts, calls for funding, state WASH policy

At a recent commemoration of the 2023 World Water Day organised by the Lagos State Government in conjunction with WaterAid Nigeria and the Nigerian Bottling Company Plc, Mr. Henry Adenigba of the Humanity Family Foundation for Peace and Development (HUFFPED), representing the Country Director, WaterAid Nigeria, Ms Evelyn Mere, called for the establishment and functioning of a Lagos State Wash Policy and funding for sustainable water facilities in schools, healthcare centres and communities.

The Director, Water Resources representing the Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, Alhaji Lekan Shodeinde also reiterated the importance of water conservation and management in a world plagued by imminent depletion of resources for survival and continuity of life.

The event themed “Accelerating Change” was held at the premises of Baba Fafunwa Millennium Secondary School, Ojodu Lagos and attended by officials of the Lagos State Government, teachers and pupils of primary/secondary schools, representatives of LCDAs and community groups, development partners and the press.

Highlights of the occasion were presentation of plays by pupils/students, competitions relating to WASH and presentation of gifts and awards to deserving pupils/students.
