President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated three critical gas infrastructure projects in Delta and Imo states, assuring investors of a business-friendly environment in the oil and gas sector. The projects are the expanded AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline.
“I wish to assure investors in the energy space that this is an investment-enabling government, and we will not relent in facilitating the ease of doing business.” the President stated, while assuring of his administration’s committment to improve business in the oil and gas sector
According to the President, his government is determined to leverage Nigeria’s vast gas capacity to drive economic growth, eliminate gas flaring, and accelerate industrialization. He noted that the projects are fully in line with the Decade of Gas Initiative and his government’s vision to grow value from the nation’s abundant gas assets.
The projects are expected to supply approximately 500MMscf of gas to the domestic market, representing over 25% incremental growth in gas supply. This is expected to boost industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and provide more gas to the power sector, gas-based industries, and other critical segments of the economy.
President Tinubu commended the strategic vision of the NNPC Limited and its partners, Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited and Seplat Energy Plc, for the laudable and value-adding projects. He also reaffirmed his government’s resolve to continue providing support for deepening domestic gas utilization, increasing national power generation capacity, revitalizing industries, and creating multiple job opportunities for economic growth.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, also highlighted the importance of gas as Nigeria’s transition fuel, noting that the removal of petrol subsidies has motivated a push towards gas production. He urged stakeholders to leverage Nigeria’s gas potential, saying, “Together, let’s keep working toward building a future that is full of hope, opportunity, and prosperity for everybody.”
