Suspected herdsmen have abducted chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Godwin Aigbogun in Ugu Ward 9, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
He was seized on the way from his farm in Ologbo-nugu on Monday evening.
An APC chieftain in Ugu, who spoke in confidence, said associates of the chairman informed him of the development.
Edo Deputy Public Relations Officer (PPRO), (ASP) Jennifer Iwegbu, confirmed the incident, saying that police operatives have embark on “aggressive bush combing” in order to rescue the victim unhurt.
The Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, however urged the public to remain calm so that the effort of the police to rescue the victim and as well arrest the kidnappers will not be jeopardised.
