An Air Peace charter flight meant to evacuate Nigerians fleeing Ukraine from Poland on Thursday was rescheduled.

The flight was rescheduled due to a delay in preparing passengers for the check-in process, according to Bolaji Akinremi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The flight will now take place on Friday morning.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, some 2,000 Nigerians have fled Ukraine amid a Russian incursion to neighboring nations.

On Wednesday, the federal government announced that it had granted $8.5 million for the evacuation of civilians.

Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania, according to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zubairu Dada, will be the destinations for the pickup planes.

The evacuation will be carried out by two flights from Air Peace and one from Max Air.
