The Federal Government has invited controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, for questioning following his recent statements on bandit activities within the nation.
This was revealed by the Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press conference at the State House in Abuja
Idris stated that Gumi, despite his influential status, is subject to the law and therefore warrants questioning regarding his remarks on bandits in the country.
Gumi had previously urged the Tinubu-led administration to engage in negotiations with bandits, cautioning against repeating past mistakes, particularly the former President Buhari’s reluctance to engage in dialogue with such groups.
The cleric had claimed that terrorism within Nigeria is not funded by its citizens but rather by the terrorists themselves, who resort to kidnapping individuals for ransom.
