There are reports of a multiple-car crash on the Otedola Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday morning involving a containerised truck and several cars.
The incident involved a high-capacity bus on the bridge inwards Berger while motorists on the other side of the road slowed down to observe what has happened, thereby, causing heavy traffic on the road, a situation that has also left travellers on the section of the highway stranded.
The Lagos State Traffic Management (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a series of tweets and advised motorists to take alternative routes to their various destinations as emergency officials rescue the victims and clear the road.
“Accident involving a high capacity bus on Otedola Bridge in Berger just reported. Already affecting traffic movement both inward and outward Berger.
“This accident is said to involve up to 10 vehicles. Motorists are advised to use CMD road from Secretariat towards Otedola for now as we await more updates on this situation.
“This accident involves a containerized truck, a pickup and a high capacity bus as well as several cars. Casualties still trapped in the pickup. The road is totally blocked for now. Emergency agencies are on ground.
“Please make use of alternative routes for now inward Berger.
“The backlog of traffic now extended to Ojota Bridge for those going inward Berger, while the backlog for those going inward Tollgate has merged with the traffic from Kara.”
