Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Motormechs and Technicians’ Association of Nigeria(MOMTAN) has called on the Nigerian Automotive Council to rise up to its civic responsibility of ensuring the uphold of quality assurance activities in factories, ports, roads and training programmes for practitioners in the Nigerian automotive industry.
He made this call in his address at the opening ceremony and symposium marking the beginning of a week long activities of the association with the theme: “Effects of Adulterated/Substandard Lubricants and Fake Spare Parts on the Nigerian Automobile Industry”, held Monday in Lagos.
He lamented the negative effects of the problem on the members of the association whom the general public had deemed responsible for poor services rendered due to inefficiency of fake and adulterated parts.
He further called also on the Standards Organisation of Nigeria(SON) to step up the regulation of importation, sales and distribution of spare parts in Nigeria while appealing to the oil companies to add quality to their products in order to avail customers the best services for their hard-earned money.
