Kim Kardashian’s divorce from rapper Ye, whom she married in 2014, was formalized by a Los Angeles judge on Wednesday, reuniting her with her ex-husband.
Kardashian was virtually present in court, while Ye, then known as Kanye West, was solely represented by his lawyer, who had no objections to the divorce.
Ye had been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the split, including social media posts pleading for Kardashian to reconcile.
After months of news stories about marital conflict and as Ye battled mental health concerns, Kardashian filed for divorce last year.
“I very much desire to be divorced,” Kardashian wrote in a declaration filed with the court last week.
“I have asked Kanye to keep our divorce private, but he has not done so,” added the 41-year-old megastar.
“I believe that the court terminating our marital status will help Kanye to accept that our marital relationship is over and to move forward on a better path which will assist us in peacefully co-parenting our children.”
The couple has four children: an eight-year-old daughter named North, a six-year-old son named Saint, a four-year-old daughter named Chicago, and a two-year-old son named Psalm.
The couple, who started dating in 2012 and married two years later in a grandiose ceremony in Italy, quickly became one of the world’s most known couples.
However, tales of odd outbursts by Ye, 44, who suffers from bipolar disorder, put their union in jeopardy.
