In a significant development for the University Of Ilorin, the Ilorin Medical Students’ Association (ILUMSA) has fulfilled a long-standing dream by constructing a multipurpose secretariat for its members, four decades after the institution graduated its first medical students.

The secretariat which is situated at the Old College section of the College of Health Sciences (COHS), was officially commissioned by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, alongside the university’s principal officers.

Named after the 6th ILUMSA president, Dr. Femi Balogun, the secretariat boasts an executive office, lounge, and an outdoor relaxation center.

Professor Egbewole commended the project and encouraged students to make the most of this resource, emphasizing that it recognizes the university’s commitment to nurturing responsible individuals who give back to society.

The College provost, Prof. Sulayman Alabi, applauded the students for this achievement and called on alumni to support the College. Dr. Femi Balogun, the chief sponsor of the project and a UK-based doctor, urged alumni to contribute to the university, pledging to fund the secretariat’s maintenance for the next decade.
He emphasized the importance of alumni unity in pursuing positive changes and inspiring further projects.
