EFCC Returns 11 Recovered Houses To Arthur Eze

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has returned eleven houses recovered in different parts of Enugu to billionaire businessman, Arthur Eze.

The properties were recovered by the EFCC from the duo of Olisaebuka Okechukwu Eze and Onyeka Nnadozie Eze, administration and finance manager respectively in Arthur Eze’s firm.

Wilson Uwujaren, the Spokesperson for Commission in a statement issued on Monday, said the houses were recovered in Enugu from Olisaebuka Eze and Onyeka Eze, who worked as administrative and finance managers respectively for the businessman.

According to the EFCC, investigations established that the duo who is also the nephew of the business mogul used proceeds of their alleged criminal activities to acquire choice properties in Enugu and other parts of South Eastern Nigeria.

JAMB Begins Computer Studies, PHE As UTME Subjects

Candidates sitting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), can now pick Computer Studies or Physical and Health Education (PHE) as part of their four UTME subjects, if they so desire or as dictated by their programme preferences.

This is made possible following the addition, by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), of the two subjects to the existing 23 UTME subjects to make them 25 beginning from the 2022 UTME exercise.

JAMB in its weekly bulletin released on Monday by the Director of Public Relations, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the development is to enhance the career prospects of students transiting to tertiary institutions.

At present, the 23 UTME subjects are :Agricultural Science, Arabic, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Christian Religious Studies, Commerce, Economics, French, Geography, Government, Hausa, History, Home Economics, Igbo, Islamic Studies, Literature-in-English , Mathematics, Music, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Use of English and Yoruba.

Terrorists Free Four Abducted Girls In Chibok

Terror group, Boko Haram, has released four girls abducted in Kautikari village of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

Residents, who confirmed the development on Sunday in Chibok, said the girls were among the 24 persons abducted when the terrorists attacked Kautikari and other surrounding villages of Chibok on January 14, 2022.

FirstNigeriaTv had reported at least nine residents of Kautikari village were abducted during the attack. Two older women and some children were later released by the terrorists.

FirstNigeriaTv further learnt that Kautikari village has come under insurgents attack more than 20 times since 2014, when about 276 girls were abducted in Chibok.

Gunmen Kill Soldier, Injure Two In Rivers State

One soldier has been reportedly killed, while two others fatally wounded in an attack by gunmen in Rivers State.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday at the boundary between Asari-Toru and the Emohua Local Government Areas of the state.

The gunmen had reportedly ambushed the soldiers close to Ahiankwo market.

Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Rowland Sekibo, who confirmed the attack, said the soldiers were ambushed. He said the two injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment in a military hospital on Aba road, Port Harcourt.

Isbae U Responds To Sex-For-Skit Allegation

Instagram skit maker, Adebayo Ridwan, better known as Isbae U, has opened up on some allegations levelled on him by some ladies who accused him of soliciting sex to feature them in skits.

The skit maker was recently under fire across all social media platforms on Sunday, after an Instagram blog had put out a screenshot of what it claimed to be conversations and encounters between the ladies and Isbae U. The screenshot included moments where he was alleged to have begged the girls for inappropriate videos and photos.

The skit maker took to his Instagram page to put out screenshots of his conversation with the accusers showing he had paid them off.

In a video accompanying the post, Isbae U said he wouldn’t blame anyone but himself for what had transpired.

Miss USA 2019 Winner, Cheslie Kryst Commits Suicide

The winner of the Miss USA pageant in 2019, Cheslie Kryst has died after jumping from a Manhattan apartment building.

Cheslie, 30, was also a correspondent for the entertainment news program “Extra.” According to NPR, Cheslie was pronounced dead at the scene of the jump on Sunday. Her family confirmed her death in a statement.

“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength.

“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on EXTRA. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on,” her family said.

AU Suspends Burkina Faso

The African Union (AU), has suspended Burkina Faso, following the January 24 military coup that ousted President Roch Marc Christian Kabore.

The AU’s Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department announced on Twitter on Monday that it had voted “to suspend the participation of #BurkinaFaso in all AU activities, until the effective restoration of constitutional order in the country.”

The announcement came as a delegation from the regional Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) that had earlier suspended Burkina Faso, was travelling to Ouagadougou to meet with junta leader Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Damiba, just three days after ECOWAS suspended Burkina Faso from its activities.

A special United Nations envoy was also taking part in Monday’s talks. Earlier, the chair of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, had condemned the coup.

CBN Explains How To Lodge A Complaint Against Banks

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released a guide on how and where you can lodge a complaint against financial institutions it regulates. The CBN had in 2011, issued a circular instructing all banks to expand their existing ATM HELP DESK to handle all forms of consumer complaints.

However, in a circular recently released on its website, the apex bank said, “if you have any complaint against your bank, you must first report the complaint at the bank/branch where the issue originated and then allow two weeks (it might be less or more in some cases) for the issues to be resolved.

“The customer has the right to escalate the complaint to the Director, Consumer Protection Department of the CBN after lodging a complaint, when the bank fails to acknowledge within three days or issue a tracking number, or fails to resolve the complaint within the timelines as stipulated by the Consumer Protection Regulation.

“You can only direct your complaints to CPD upon the failure of your bank/financial institution to resolve your complaint within the timeline stipulated by the Consumer Protection Regulation.

Buhari celebrates Onyeka Onwenu at 70

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined the entertainment industry practitioners and other Nigerians in sharing the joyous occasion of 70th birthday anniversary of renowned songwriter, singer and journalist, Onyeka Onwenu.

In a statement by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, on Sunday in Abuja, the president congratulated the multiple award-winning artiste and actress for ”leading a life that keeps inspiring both the old and young”.

He affirmed that Onwenu’s creativity, sincerity of purpose and diligence had continued to bring glory to the country.

He prayed that the Almighty God would continue to bless Onwenu, the singer of “One Love’’, who is also known as the Elegant Stallion, with long life and good health.

Nigerian comedian, AY’s wife reveals more on her pregnancy struggles

Mabel Makun, wife of popular comedian and actor, Ayo Makun aka AY has revealed she had three miscarriages while looking for a second child. Recall that AY and his wife welcomed their second child days ago after 13 years.

Speaking on her pregnancy struggles on Instagram, Mabel said she had three horrid miscarriages that had no medical explanations.

Her post read, “This will trigger my emotions; the plan was to close/open my eyes and make it all disappear, but then again, I thought to myself, Mabel you have to encourage someone out there.

“I had three miscarriages with no medical explanations as to reasons why. It was the same pattern as before, every single thing that happened with the others, happened again, only this time more, but I was determined to hold on tight to God and not fail.

“Truthfully, I was exhausted, how I got here today is not something that I can explain, but I just know that God was and is still with me and Ayomide, for this we are eternally grateful,” Mabel wrote.
