Sokoto Massacre: Violence against innocent people will not go unpunished-Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the massacre of 15 people in Goronyo and Illela local government areas of Sokoto state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said the “needless and mindless violence against innocent people cannot go unpunished.”
He warned that: “This persistent and unprovoked violence against unarmed civilians must be met with fierce response by the government”.
Boko Haram Hijacks Five Communities In Niger State
Boko Haram has hijacked over five communities in Rafi and Shiroto Local Government Areas of Niger state.
This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, on Monday.
He said that the insurgents are fully in charge in Hanawanka, Madaka, in Rafi LGA and Kurebe, Gussau, Farina Kuka in Shiroro LGA, forcing the rural citizens of the state to migrate to safer grounds.
Matane said the state has already notified security agencies for proper urgent security measures.
Sanwo-Olu Approves 10-Man Visitation Panel For LASU
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday approved a 10-man visitation panel for the Lagos State University (LASU).
The panel will be chaired by Professor Abdulrahman Bello. The other members are Prof. Dipo Kolawole, Prof. Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, Prof. Joseph Ajenka, Ayorinde Ogunruku, Lawal Pedro, Ibrahim Olaniyi Akomade, Akinwale Ayodeji, Kalejaiye Paul Adeboye and Yemisi Omoloye.
The panel was set up to identify and proffer solutions to the challenges facing the institution.
Chico Ejiro’s Son Viano Is Dead
Chico Ejiro has lost her last son, Viano Chico-Ejiro, less than a year after the death of her husband.
Viano had been suffering from cancer for years and his father had devoted his time and resources to his treatment.
Also, Viano’s mother, Joy Chico Ejiro, had also contributed her part as she moved to the US to get the best health care for her son who was diagnosed with cancer related ailments while still a toddler.
The death of Viano was announced by popular blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus.
Death toll rises to 5 as gas explosion rocks Mushin area of Lagos
No fewer than five persons including a 10-year old boy have been confirmed dead in a gas explosion in Mushin area of Lagos State.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning at the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) domestic retail center located at Ojekunle Street at the Popular Ladipo Spare Parts market.
Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Acting Zonal Coordinator, South West Zonal Office, NEMA, confirmed the development in a statement.
He said the cause of the explosion, which occurred at the shop located at 33/35 Ojekunle St. Ladipo Spare Part Market, Lagos was yet to be ascertained.
Lagos End Sars Pannel Submits Reports
The Lagos End Sars Panel, led by retired judge, Doris Okuwobi on Monday November 15, submitted a 309-page report at the Governor’s office in Alausa, Ikeja.
The Panel recommended that all men of the Nigerian Army excluding Major General Omata that were deployed to Lekki Toll-Gate on October 20, 2020 should be made to face appropriate disciplinary action, stripped of their status and dismissed.
They also recommended disciplinary actions to the following officers (Lt. Col S.O Belle and General Godwin Umelo), who refused to honor the summons of the Panel in order to frustrate the investigations.
6 dead, 19 others injured in Bauchi motor accident
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Command, says no fewer than six persons lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in Bauchi on Monday.
The Sector Commander, Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in Bauchi on Tuesday, and also said that 19 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
25 people are involved in the crash comprising 23 males, one female and a female child. Six people died on the spot and they are all males. Nineteen others sustained injuries. Among them are 17 males, one female and a female child.
Sheikh Gumi Opens School For Fulani Herdsmen
Renowned Muslim preacher, Sheikh (Dr.) Ahmad Gumi has founded a school for herdsmen inside a Kaduna forest, insisting that the provision of infrastructures to herdsmen in their remote locations could help in curbing their violent ideologies.
He said insecurity in Nigeria, particularly banditry can become a thing of the past, as bandits are ready to drop their arms if opportunities like education and other basic amenities are provided for them at the grassroots.
He named the school Sheikh Uthman Bin Fodio Centre, located at Kagarko Grazing Reserve near Kohoto Village in Kaduna state.
ENDSARS: I don’t know what happened to the recovered Lekki camera -Fashola
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has said he does not know where the camera he recovered at Lekki Tollgate after the #EndSARS protests is.
Recall that the former governor of Lagos State, had visited the Lekki tollgate in October last year to assess the damage caused in the aftermath of the #ENDSARS protest. He also spotted a camcorder at the toll plaza which he handed over to a government official.
When asked what was the content of the camera, he said, “You should not be asking me. You have the tapes showing that I handed it over to the government of Lagos. So you have all the recordings. I think your people were there. So don’t ask me what happened to the camera. I don’t know.”
Unknown Gunmen invade Benue monarch’s palace, kill son, abduct daughter
Unknown gunmen broke into Ikpomolokpo palace in Gege Ward of Ado Local Government Area in Benue State in the early hours of Monday, killing the son of the monarch, while his daughter was taken away.
Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the community at about 2am and headed to the palace of the clan head, where the incident happened.
The Chairman of Ado LGA, Chief James Oche, confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi, saying he received a distress call on the incident.
He also said that he immediately alerted troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, but before they could get to the palace, the gunmen had escaped into the Atiga forest in the area.
