BREAKING: Stray bullet hits, kills girl at Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos

A yet-to-be identified girl was killed by stray bullet at the Yoruba Nation rally held at Ojota Park, Lagos on Saturday.

The protest, which started with singing and chanting, got rowdy as security operatives shot in the air, and also teargassed protesters.

A resident who pleaded anonymity said when the protest went rowdy, the girl was about to open the shop when the stray bullet hit her.

Police visited the scene of the incident, and took her dead body away.

2023: Power Must Return to South, Says Shettima

A former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has said that the north must ensure it supported the South to produce a new president in 2023.

His utterances came as Chief of Staff Ibrahim Gambari urged Nigerians to uphold unity, saying there was hope for a better future under the president.

The former governor stated this on Friday, while speaking at a public presentation of a book, titled: “Standing For The Truth With Courage,” written by Prof. Emeritus Njidda Mamadu Gadzama, the chairman, TETfund Research and Development Standing Committee.

At the book presentation, he expressed his belief in equity, fairness, and justice, insisting it was the turn of the South to produce the next president of the country.

Bizarre! Man kills own father, sells body parts to ritualist in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command is dealing with a bizarre case of a man who allegedly sold the body parts of his father, Michael Olagunju, to some ritualists in Kajola, Odo-Owa in the Oke-Ero Local Government Area of the state.

Olagunju was allegedly murdered on his farm at Kajola last Thursday by his son.

The son was said to have connived with some ritualists to remove Olagunju’s body parts, including his two hands and his heart.

Despite the heavy presence of armed policemen around Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos, agitators of the Yoruba nation on Saturday gathered at the park.

Chanting different songs of freedom and flying their flags, the protesters said the nation is bleeding and they need Oodua Nation.

The agitators insist that it is time to have a separate nation for the Yoruba ethnic group because they are suffering and are being marginalised.

They insist that their rallies are peaceful and had taken place in other southwestern states before Lagos State.

The President spoke Friday at State House, Abuja, while receiving in audience former Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, His Excellency Ato Hailemariam Dessalegn Boshe.

He added: “We needed to go back to the land, as petroleum could no longer sustain the country, particularly with fluctuating prices. Today, we eat what we grow, and we have stopped the importation of many food products. There’s no foreign exchange to even waste again.

“Agriculture has also helped us to generate employment. We have embraced technology, and some people are even leaving the offices to go back to the land. And they are not regretting it. That is the feedback we get.”

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said that he secretly removed his son from the government owned Kapital School, Kaduna to avert an attack on the school by bandits.

Speaking in a BBC interview, the governor who was hailed after he publicly enrolled his son, Abubakar Al-Sadiq El-Rufai, in the Kaduna Capital school two years ago said the interest of other students and teachers became an issue given the threats from the bandits.

The governor said the enrolment of his son, and subsequently, his daughter, Nesrin was to show his confidence in the public school system that he is supervising. He said that the two are still enrolled in the school but are now being home schooled.

One of the commanders of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, Emeoyiri Uzorma Benjamin, alias Onye Army, who was arrested by operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team, has made some shocking confessions.

Onye Army also said he is happy that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has been arrested while begging the Buhari government for amnesty.

He confessed his alleged involvement in the attacks of government assets and killing of security operatives, including those from the Igbo speaking areas.

The arrested commander said that the heads of 10 girls caught in Imo State were used in preparing charms to fortify members of the group against police bullets.
