Lagos CP, Odumosu, backs arrest of estate guards for delaying his convoy at gate
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, ordered the arrest of private security guards at Brooks Estate, Magodo, Isheri for allegedly delaying and denying him entrance into the estate.
It was gathered that the police boss had gone to the estate in his convoy to meet a “strategic partner at a function” on Saturday when the incident happened.
A statement from the Lagos State Police Command clarified that the CP did not lock down the estate as speculated on social media. In the statement titled, ‘Brooks estate not locked down by Lagos CP’, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, warned private security guards against disregard for police officers.

There are indications that the presidential candidate of the National Repubican Convention in the 1993 controversial election, Alhaji Bashir Tofa, has died.
Tofa was the opponent of the winner of the election, late Moshood Kasimawo Abiola, who later died in custody after declaring himself the winner.
Information available to FirstNigeriaTv indicate that Tofa died in the early hours of Monday. The politician had been rumoured dead few days ago. However, his family in a statement said though Tofa had been down with ailment, he was still alive.

2022 Budget: Presidency Address Rumored Rift Between Executive And Legislature
The Presidency has debunked reports of an ongoing rift between President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly (NASS) over the 2022 budget.
The President had at the signing ceremony expressed reservations over some changes effected into the original appropriation bill he presented to the NASS for approval, describing such actions as worrisome.
However, the Presidency in a statement issued on Sunday by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said President Buhari and the National Assembly under Lawal and Gbajabiamila are committed to a good relationship and this or any other disagreement between the two arms of government will not alter the dynamics of that relationship.
The statement debunked any rift between the two arms of Government adding that “there will be none.”
Buhari Mourns Olubadan Of Ibadan, Describes him as a “compassionate leader”
President Muhammadu Buhari has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Oyo State, the Royal Family, the Olubadan-in-council and the people of Ibadan on the passing of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
The President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the late “Kabiyesi was a visionary and compassionate leader, who used the spheres of his influence as a respected traditional ruler and a lover of the creative industry to advance the progress of his people, encouraging and motivating them to give their best in their vocation and to the nation.”
“As the funeral rites of the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland get underway in Ibadan, the President trusts that the process of selecting his successor will be guided by wisdom, understanding and good judgement that exemplified the life he lived”, the statement added.
Buhari prayed to God to grant the soul of Oba Adetunji eternal rest and comfort the family, friends, associates and subjects he left behind.
Nigeria Not A Dumping Ground, NAFDAC Says As it Bans 30 Pesticides, Other Chemicals
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has placed a ban on importation and usage of 30 different brands of pesticides and other chemicals found to be harmful to the health of Nigerians and their environment.
NAFDAC referred Nigerians to visit its website for the list of the banned pesticides, warning that it will come down hard on anyone that violates its regulations on importation of pesticides and other chemicals, knowingly or unknowingly.
The Agency in a statement by its Resident Media Consultant, Sayo Akintola on Sunday, said the Director-General (DG), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, disclosed the information at a two-day meeting of NAFDAC top management committee (TMC) held in Lagos, at the weekend.
Adeyeye assured the public that NAFDAC as an Agency will never compromise the nations public health, environment and will not inflict undue hardship on Nigerians and the watchword, customer-focused, Agency-minded remains the bearing of its focus.
Former LG Boss, ASUU Chairman Kidnapped In Plateau
The former chairman of Shendam Local Government Area, Plateau State, Nkemi Nicholas Nshe, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
Nshe, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election in Plateau State, was reportedly kidnapped alongside the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Plateau state University, Dr Monday Hassan.
They were abducted at the residence of Nshe at Shendam in the early hours of Saturday.
The Spokesman for the Plateau Police Command, Ubah Ogaba, when contacted said the Command had deployed security operatives to rescue the victims.
Gunmen kill one, Abducts many in an Attack at Kaduna Village
At least 18 persons have been abducted and one person killed following an attack on Angwar Zalla Udawa, Kaduna state.
Some heavily armed men reportedly stormed the village along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway around 12:30am on Sunday.
A community leader in Udawa, Muhammed Umaru, who confirmed the incident, identified the deceased as Bala Jaja. He said married women, adults and young ladies were among those abducted.
There is no official statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report as calls to the Spokesperson of Kaduna Police Command, ASP Jalige Mohammed, were not answered.
Ogun To Soon Become Oil Producing State – Gov. Abiodun
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has stated that his administration is working towards ensuring that the state takes advantage of its oil rich deposit and becomes an oil producing state.
Abiodun disclosed this during the Convocation Lecture he delivered at the 2nd and 3rd Convocation Ceremony of the Mountain Top University.
The governor expressed regret that Ogun lost a $16b Dangote refinery to Lagos after a break in discussion between the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Dangote.
Abiodun also disclosed that the state has very rich oil reserves in Tongeji Island, hinting that the state is situated in the Dahomey Basin, which stands for the Niger Delta that goes all the way to Ghana.
