The Federal Government has announced public holidays for Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations. March 29th and April 1st, 2024, are set as days off to mark these occasions.
The declaration came from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aishetu Ndayako, on Wednesday.
According to the Minister, Easter embodies values like love, forgiveness, and compassion and these values are crucial to foster social cohesion and harmony.
He further urged Christians to embrace these virtues, which can positively impact Nigeria’s socio-economic development. Unity, conflict reduction, and cooperation are among the benefits.
Also, Nigerians are urged to demonstrate acts of charity and generosity to support the less privileged in society in the spirit of the season
While he extends warm wishes for a joyful Easter celebration to Christians everywhere, he also calls on all Nigerians to collaborate with the President Bola Tinubu-led administration in its efforts toward sustainable development and prosperity for all.
