Celebrations in Police headquarters, Abuja today, following the exit of Usman Alkali Baba as inspector general of police and the appointment of Kayode Egbetokun as new IG, to resume work officially.

Alkali Baba who was appointed by former president Muhammad Buhari, to replace Mohammed Adamu on the 4th of June, 2021 as the 21st Nigerian Inspector general of police , has earlier been asked to abidicate as IG of Police by a High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra state
The ruling, which the Force headquarters contested on grounds that Usman was denied fair hearing, affirming the continued stay of Mr Alkali in the office of the Inspector general.
firstNigeriaTv had reported that the Inspector general was finally retired from office, by President Bola Tinubu on Monday, alongside oher heads of military to be replaced by Kayode Egbetokun as the new IG of police.
His replacement, Egbetokun, once police commissioner in Kwara State and Assistant Inspector general, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, and leader of the Criminal Investigations Department in Abuja, has since vowed to eliminate all internal enemies of Nigeria upon his appointment.
