The voting process for the fifth edition of the Consumers Value Awards (CVA) has officially closed, marking the end of another significant chapter in Nigeria’s foremost consumer-driven platform for recognising brands and public institutions that consistently deliver value.

Speaking on the conclusion of the nationwide voting exercise, Akonte Ekine, Convener of the Consumers Value Awards, described the response from consumers as another strong affirmation of the growing importance of consumer participation in shaping brand excellence.

“Every vote represents a consumer’s experience, confidence and expectation. The conclusion of voting is not the end of the process; it is the beginning of the most critical phase, where every vote is carefully verified to preserve the integrity of the awards.”

According to Ekine, the Consumers Value Awards has continued to distinguish itself by placing consumers—not industry panels—at the centre of the recognition process.

“Consumers are the ultimate judges of value. They interact with brands every day and are best positioned to determine which organisations consistently deliver on their promises. Their collective voice gives these awards their credibility and significance.”

With voting now concluded, the CVA Secretariat has commenced the verification and validation of all votes to ensure accuracy, transparency and fairness before the final results are confirmed.

The next stage of the process will include the preparation and dispatch of official notification letters to the brands and institutions that emerged successful in their respective categories.

“Receiving an official letter from the Consumers Value Awards is more than an invitation to an event. It is confirmation that Nigerian consumers have recognised a brand’s commitment to quality, service, innovation and trust.”

This year’s edition holds special significance as it marks the fifth anniversary of the Consumers Value Awards, a milestone that reflects the steady growth of consumer participation and the increasing relevance of consumer opinion in the Nigerian marketplace.

Since its inception in 2022, the awards have evolved into a respected platform that encourages organisations to place customer experience, accountability and value creation at the centre of their business strategies.

Reflecting on emerging consumer trends, Ekine noted that today’s consumers are evaluating brands beyond price alone.

“Consumers are looking at reliability, responsiveness, transparency and the overall experience they receive. The brands that consistently earn trust are the brands that remain relevant.”

The winners of the fifth edition will be celebrated at the Consumers Value Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, where business leaders, regulators, marketing professionals, corporate communicators, consumer advocates and other stakeholders will gather to recognise excellence as determined by Nigerian consumers.

Ekine emphasised that the event is more than an awards presentation.

“The Consumers Value Awards has become a national conversation about trust, accountability and consumer confidence. Every edition reminds us that the consumer is not merely buying products and services—they are helping to define the standards by which brands are judged.”

He expressed appreciation to every consumer who participated in the voting process and to every nominated organisation for embracing the spirit of consumer engagement.

“Whether a brand receives an award this year or not, every nomination and every vote sends an important message. Consumers are paying attention, and organisations that listen, improve and consistently create value will continue to earn their confidence.”

As the countdown to 23 September begins, anticipation is expected to build across industries as successful brands begin receiving official notifications from the Consumers Value Awards Secretariat.

“The voting has closed, but the voice of the consumer is only beginning to be heard,” Ekine concluded. “On September 23, we will celebrate outstanding brands, but more importantly, we will celebrate the growing influence of the Nigerian consumer in shaping better businesses and stronger institutions.”
