TRIBUTE TO MRS. JULIE NGOZI IHEJIRIKA
Gentle, Disciplined, Respectful, Hardworking, Go-Getter – Rest On, Julie
The leadership and entire members of the Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance (CACOBAG) received with deep shock and profound sadness the news of the passing of our dear sister, comrade and collaborator, Mrs. Julie Ngozi Ihejirika, after a few months of illness.
This is a heavy loss to the civil society family, to the democracy movement, and to all who knew her.
Ngozi Julie Ihejirika was a thoroughbred Development Practitioner and Democracy Activist whose life was defined by service, sacrifice and principled commitment to the public good.
We in CACOBAG will never forget her collaborative spirit. She served meritoriously as Secretary of the Centre for Constitutional Governance (CCG) under the leadership of Dr. Adewale Balogun, and in that capacity, collaborated closely with the Chairman of CACOBAG, Prince Toyin Raheem ,who is also the Facilitator of the Public Interest Coalition (PIC) of the Centre for Constitutional Governance (CCG) founded by the legendary Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti.
In that capacity, she remained a dependable bridge between CCG and the broader coalition family. She was diligent in minutes, meticulous in organization, and resolute in following up on actions – a true engine room of the movement.
Gentle in disposition, disciplined in character, respectful to all, hardworking to a fault, and a go-getter who never said impossible – Julie embodied the finest virtues of activism. She did not just talk democracy; she lived it and worked it daily.
Until her final transition from this sinful world, she was in active service with RULAAC – Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), where she continued to demonstrate her passion for justice, human rights and accountability.
We have lost a sister, a comrade, and a dependable ally.
CACOBAG commiserates with her beloved husband, her children, her extended family, the leadership and staff of RULAAC which she served last before she transited, the CCG family and the entire civil society community.
May the Almighty grant her husband, children and family, and the RULAAC family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May they find solace in the knowledge that she lived a worthy and impactful life.
We shall sorely miss her smile, her commitment, her respectful firmness, and her unshakable belief in a better Nigeria.
Adieu, Julie.!
Rest on, Comrade !
Rest on, Julie Ngozi Ihejirika
Signed
Idowu Taiwo
Secretary CACOBAG
