Lai Mohammed Condemns UK Covid-19 Ban on Nigeria

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has condemned the ban placed by UK on Nigeria as regards the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

While speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Mr Mohammed described the decision as unjust and called on the UK government to reverse their decision immediately.

According to the minister, the move was ill-advised. He further noted that it would have multiple impacts on commerce, and disrupt activities during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Wizkid wins Best International Act, Best African Act at 2021 MOBOS awards

Nigerian Pop Star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid won two awards at 2021 MOBO awards, the award show which held on Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) is an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in “music of black origin”, including Hip Hop, Grime, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Gospel, and African music.

Asides winning the Best African Act, he also took home the award for Best International Act beating artists like Ye West, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Polo G, Rema, Skillibeng, and Young Stoner Life (Young Thug & Gunna).

Virtual Court Sitting will ensure speedy dispensation of justice– Malawi

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Monday said the initiation of virtual court sitting technology in correctional facilities is focused on ensuring speedy dispensation of justice and decongestion of custodial centres in the country.

Malami stated this at the launch of the pilot project for the deployment and use of virtual court sitting facilities at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja on Monday.

The AGF said the project was initiated to ensure the hearing and determination of urgent and time-bound cases.

The AGF added that the project was birthed by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme and the Japan government.

NDLEA Debunks Claimed Assault On Reality TV Star Khloe Abriri

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has debunks the claims made by Reality TV star, Khloe Abiri, after the latter accused an NDLEA officer at the international airport of assaulting her.

Khloe Abiri had on Sunday called out the NDLEA in a series of Instagram posts and accused an officer of the agency, simply known as LS Shonibare, of assault which also led to her missing her flight.

However, in a statement signed by the NDLEA Director Media and Advocacy, Femi Babatunde, the agency has debunked the claims.

The agency said that, the reality tv star had come late for the flight, and became agitated after she was asked to submit her luggage for a search which was the normal procedure, then went ahead to insult the officials and brought out her phone to record which the officer seized from her.

Police Begin Investigation As Eight Children Die In SUV

The Lagos State Police Command said it is investigating the death of eight children , whose bodies were found in a Lexus SUV van in Badagry area of the the state.

The incident was confirmed to newsmen by The Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, via a statement.

Ajisebutu noted that their bodies were found locked in the vehicle parked on Adelayo Street in the Jah-Michael area of Badagry.

The children, mostly between four and six years old, were reportedly found dead when a parent was looking for her child.

Omicron: Nigeria will not make ‘hasty’ decisions like UK, Canada- Health Minister

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has expressed disappointment over the United Kingdom government’s placement of Nigeria on its red list following the detection of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.

According to the minister who spoke on Sunday on a monitored Channels Television programme, the move was ill-advised as he noted that it would have multiple impacts on commerce, and disrupt activities during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

He explained that while Nigeria has detected the COVID-19 virus on travellers from the UK, the cases have not been confirmed to be the Omicron variant.

While reiterating that the placement of countries on the red list will not help in the global fight against the pandemic, Ehanire said Nigeria is anticipating the fourth wave of the disease.

Police rescue 17 year-old kidnapped victim in Kaduna

The Police Command in Kaduna State says its operatives has rescued a 17 year-old kidnapped victim in Sabon Birnin Daji forest of Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, made the announcement in a statement issued on Sunday in Kaduna.

The operatives stormed a kidnapper’s den, where a fierce exchange of fire ensued which resulted in the rescue of one Sani Adamu, 17, a resident of old Sabon Gida airport while the bandits escaped with varying bullet wounds

The command is calling on the public not to be deterred by these isolated incidences and to report any kidnap incident recorded within their areas so that the authority will act upon promptly.

Man kills wife, Commit suicide in Delta State

A man identified as Chikordi, has allegedly killed his wife, Prophetess Chikordi, of the Ancient of Days Healing Church, Umunede in Ika north east local government area of Delta State.

It was gathered that trouble started at about 4:00am on Sunday morning, as the alleged murderer ran to his family hometown, Ekwuoma, also in the local government area where he jumped into the well.

The ugly incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright.

Wife of Kogi Speaker, Kolawole is dead


The wife of the Speaker of Kogi House of Assembly, Mrs Esther Zainab Kolawole, is dead.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Femi Olugbemi, Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Assemblyman Matthew Kolawole.

The statement stated that Olugbemi Mrs Kolawole was 50-years and died after a brief illness, in the early hours of Sunday in a Lagos State hospital.

According to him, the burial arrangements will be announced later. He said she is survived by her husband, children, siblings and an aged mother.

Groom loses 9 family members on wedding day

Newlywed couple mourned as the groom lost nine members of his family in an auto crash hours after their wedding in Bayelsa State.

The tragic incident claimed the lives of the groom’s father and eight siblings who were heading home after the wedding.

According to information, the accident occurred at the tollgate along Glory Land drive in Igbogene axis of Yenagoa, the state capital.

The corpses of the victims were deposited at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri while the injured passengers are responding to treatment at the same facility.
