Court Adjourns Baba-Ijesha’s Trial.

The Lagos State Special Offences Court in the Ikeja area on Monday, adjourned till Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the alleged child molestation case against popular Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha.

This is as a result of the evidence the counsel for comedienne, Adekola Adekanya, also known as Princess against the Baba Ijesha was played to the Court.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo has adjourned the case till Tomorrow Tuesday 27th of July 2021.

Sowore Released!

Nigerian Human Rights Activist Omoyele Sowore has regained his freedom after he and others were arrested during a protest at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Sowore had staged a protest in solidarity with leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, who is undergoing trial.

But after few hours of their arrest, they have been released.

Nnamdi Kanu Absent In Court, Judge Adjourns Trial

The trial of the self acclaimed leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, at a Federal High Court in Abuja, resumed without Kanu, physically in court.

Kanu’s Lawyer Mr ifeanyi Ejiofor, informed the court of an application he filed seeking the transfer of Kanu from DSS custody to correctional center.

The judge insisted that Kanu must physically be brought to court since he is now available to face his trial. The court urged the prosecution to make sure that Kanu be brought to court to witness his trial.

IPOB members Arrested

Some members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) have been arrested by the police on Monday as they converge on the federal high court in Abuja for Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial.

Recall that the leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu is set to face trial in court today for charges such as instigating violence in the southeastern part of the country,treasonable felony, violence among others.

The members of IPOB were chanting the slogans in support and demand for Kanu’s freedom after he has been arrested and extradited to Nigeria in June.

Buhari to go for another Medical Check-up

President Mohammadu Buhari will be flying to the United Kingdom to visit his doctors for his earlier scheduled medical Check-up in London.

This will be after his participation in the Global Education Summit on Financial Global Partnership For Education (GPE) 2021-2025.

President Buhari will also be having a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson after which he will go for his medical checkup to be back by second week in August.

Army Denies Destroying Farmlands

The Nigerian Army has denied having anything to do with the viral video on the social media showing troop’s clad in green camouflage uniforms invading farms in the South-east and destroying crops.

This was made known in a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu.

Nwachukwu has also asked everyone to disregard the viral video which was aimed at painting the then black and denigrating the Army.

3 Arrested For Robbing “Tope Alabi”

Police in Ogun State has arrested three suspected armed robbers for invading and robbing Tope Alabi provision shop of a huge sum of money.

Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, Abimbola Oyeyemi, identified the suspects as Anu Ibikunle (32 years), Rasheed Bisiriyu (22 years) and Adebowale Dada (25 years).

The Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the case to the state CIID. He also urged the public to always inform the police on time whenever they notice any distress situation.

Bandits Release 28 Bethel Students

Bandits who kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna state, have on Sunday, released 28 of the kidnapped students

This new development was confirmed to Journalists by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Rev.John Joseph Hayab on Sunday July 25,2021.

Recall that the bandits had raided the school on the 5 of July 2021 and kidnapped 121 students after killing two military personnel.

Trial Continues for Kanu and Igboho

The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, resumes at the Federal High Court, Abuja, today. Also, Yoruba Nation Agitator Sunday Igboho, will continue his trial at a court in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

Recall that Igboho and his wife was arrested at an Airport in Cotonou last Monday on his way to Germany after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS).

IPoB leader on the other end is being prosecuted on 11-count charge fii is r terrorism,treasonable felony,instigating violence in the Southeastern part of the country among others.

NIN-SIM Verification Deadline Extends till October 31 2021

The Federal Government has extended the deadline for National Identity Number (NIN)-Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) data verification to October 31, 2021.

This decision was as as a result of stakeholder’s request to make registration possible in remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, diaspora and address low enrolments in schools and hospitals, as shown by enrolment statistics.

There are now a total of 59.8 million unique NIN enrolments, with average of 3 to 4 SIMs per NIN.

PDP Governors to meet again in Bauchi today

Elected Governors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will meet in Bauchi today to discuss the issue of unemployment and Nigerian economy.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, in Abuja, by the Director-General (D-G), PDP Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Hon. CID Maduabum.

The meeting will also resume to question the Federal Government’s Response the Insecurity issues in the country and profer realistic solutions.

ASUU to resume Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to go on a fresh nationwide strike if the Federal Government refuse to meet their demands.

The Union made this threats through its Chairman Ibrahim Inuwa, on Sunday at the Tafawa Balewa University.

The Union said they resulted to this options since the Federal Government has failed to implement many aspect of Memorandum of Action (MoA) they willingly signed with ASUU that ended the last strike in December 2020

Murdered Super TV CEO to be laid to Rest

The murdered CEO of Super TV, Mr Usifo Ataga, will be buried on Friday, July 30, 2021 according to the burial arrangements announced by his family.

Recall that he was he was found dead in an apartment at Lekki, Lagos last month a few days after he was declared missing by his family, after which a lady Chidinma Ojukwu was arrested as the suspected murderer.

A service of songs will be held in his honour on Thursday, July 29 at The Incubator at Victoria Island after which he will be buried at the Ebony Vaults,Ikoyi Lagos after a funeral service at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Fake Naval Officer Arrested

The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has arrested a fake Naval officer by the name Nasiru Ahmed.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by ASP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, on behalf the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bola Longe, and made available to newsmen in Lafia.

The Commissioner has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for further investigation and warned other criminal elements to stop their acts or leave the state.

CAN Supports Rotation of Presidency

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has advised that the next President should be a Christian to ensure balance in leadership of the country.

This was disclosed in a NEC meeting held at the Christian Center on Saturday where they said that this rotation will promote equity, unity and peace.

The association also pledged collaboration with Muslims and Nigeria Inter-religious Council (NIREC) to make the country a peaceful place for us all.

Ilorin Airport Authority Debunks Crash Of Air Peace Aircraft

The Authority of llorin International Airport debunked any accident involving any aircraft belonging to Peace Airline at the Airport.

This was contained in a statement issued by the the Public Relations Officer of the airport, Mr Sam Adurogboye

Contrary to the crash rumors, the airport authority said an aircraft which departed from Abuja successfully landed in Ilorin. It only experienced tyre burst in the course of taxing, and all the 66 passengers and 6 crew members onboard were disembarked without issues on the same day being the 23rd of July.

Wedding date for Buhari’s son and emir of Bichi’s daughter announced

Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to wed daughter of the emir of Bichi Princess Zahra Ado-Bayero on the 20th of August 2021.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Spokesperson for Bichi Emirate Lurwanu Malikawa and that a 145-man committee has been put in place to plan the ceremony.

The statement also stated that the committee will organise the emir of Bichi’s coronation, including his presentation of staff of office by Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

COVID-19 linked to a substantial drop in intelligence

According to the new research published in the Lancet journal EClinicalMedicine, people who have recovered from COVID-19 tend to score significantly lower on an intelligence test compared to those who have not contracted the virus.

For their study, Adam Hampshire an associate professor in the Computational, Cognitive and Clinical Neuroimaging Laboratory at Imperial College London, and his team analyzed data from 81,337 participants who completed the intelligence test between January and December 2020. Of the entire sample, 12,689 individuals reported that they had experienced COVID-19, with varying degrees of respiratory severity.

After controlling for factors such as age, sex, handedness, first language, education level, and other variables, the researchers found that those who had contracted COVID-19 tended to underperform on the intelligence test compared to those who had not contracted the virus.

Wole Soyinka give reasons why Nigeria can’t remain together

Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has again said that there is no hope of Nigeria continuing together as one nation if the Federal Government fails to do what’s expected of them.

He said this in a recent interview with Arise Tv when asked if he thinks the country can continue as one.

In his words the said “Not if it continues this way. Not if it fails to decentralise. Some people use the word restructure, some people use the word…whatever. Not if it fails to decentralise”. He also mentioned that FG should apologize to Igboho for raising his house.

China Tops Olympic Table on Day One

The republic of China’s Olympic team has topped the table on day one with 3 Gold medals at the Olympic event happening in Tokyo, Japan.

The game event will span from the 23rd of July till the 8th of August 2021.

The country’s team got a gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle, women’s 49kg weightlifting and women’s epee individual fencing categories.
