The Kaduna State Commissioner of police, Mr Austin Iwar has revealed that the state command arrested 38 suspects involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and street gangs in three months.
Iwar said the groups were arrested between October 2017 and Jan. 2018 adding that 21 were arrested in connection with kidnapping and armed robbery, while 17 were swiped in connection to street gangs, popularly known as “Sara Sucks’.
He disclosed that items recovered within the period under review include: 41 arms and ammunition and three vehicles, stating that the command also dislodged three armed robbery syndicate.
Iwar reiterated the most significant of the successes was the arrest of a notorious armed robbery syndicate operating along the Zaria -Kano expressway.
He said “Some of the suspects who were involved in kidnapping for ransom and operating in Lere and pambegua axis of Kubau and Zaria Local Government Areas were also arrested.
The commissioner noted that the street gangs were arrested in Kaduna metropolis around Rigasa, Tudun Wada, Kawo and Unguwar Rimi.
He maintained that the suspects who were in Police custody had given useful information that continued to aid police investigation.
