For a numbers of years, the old students of the University of Ilorin had a forum through which alumni met for socialising, networking and reliving of old school times.

Simply named ‘Unilorin Catchup’, the latest of such tagged “Black with Bling and Glitter”, took place at Sinatra’s Place, Ladipo Oluwole Street, off Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos on 20th December, 2020.

In an exclusive video interview with FirstNigeriaTV’s Ojomo, Olusegun Adebambo, the Chief Convener of the event, Mr. Bola Adelaja a.k.a Chicago revealed that the event would be breaking barriers and crossing borders into the diaspora, as plans were underway to hold the next edition in one of the Western countries.

“The new spice to add to the ever-glorious event is its planned extension into the diaspora. We are looking at one of the western countries for a start. We would be linking with our brothers and sisters already in the diaspora to map out plans that would make our indigent fellas be able to attend the event, even through sponsorship, as a way of showing love and oneness- a cohabitation which makes our alma mater, the University of Ilorin, better by far”, he said.

Highlights of the memorable event were various competitions through which winners emerged as follows:

Best dancer Male – Segun Ojomo

Best Dancer Female – Oyenike Oyewole

Best themed outfit – Yetunde Olowofoyeku

Best Novelty Dancer (Jerusalema Dance) – Olamide Thompson

Best Couple – Toyin and Alaba Campbell

Most valued member for the year 2020 – Engr Kola Gbadamosi (KGB) – for contribution to foster and promote social and economic values of all members of Unilorin catch up team.

Toyin and Alaba Campbell, apart from clinching the best couple award, were also hosted by the House in commemoration of their 25th wedding anniversary, although side-droppers claimed that theirs was actually a 32nd anniversary.
