The Former Speaker, Lagos state house of assembly, Honourable Jokotola Pelumi has said that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will give no room for the LGBTQ community in Nigeria.
While speaking in an interview with Channels television on the expectations from the new administration and the issue of diplomatic relations with western nations like the US. He stated that President Tinubu has had a network of relations on the foreign front and has the experience to look after Nigeria’s interests on the international level.
“Will Asiwaju entertain the LGBTQ? It’s the last thing that will happen. It’s not part of our orientation, it’s not part of our background, it’s not part our education, and when those three variables are integrated, you will do the right thing, and that’s what is going to happen” he said.
Recall that recently, President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni signed anti-gay laws with death penalties for “aggravated homosexuality” and related enactments on Monday which sparked reactions from the United States. President Joe Biden has since threatened to cut aids to Uganda and also implement other sanctions.
According to the honourable Nigeria has great potentials in the committee of nations and such cannot happen, because a problem in Nigeria will reverberate throughout the whole west African coast, which will percolate other african nations and as a result, the West will avoid any such issues that may arise.
“I’m of open to a view though, that they might try to hand twist us but Asiwaju can hold his own” he concluded.
