Valentine’s Day : Practice Safe Sex – NACA Warns Nigerians

In preparation for this year’s Valentine Day Celebration, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has admonished Nigerians to practice safe sex and consider their safety while expressing affection

The director-general (DG) of NACA, Dr Aliyu Gambo, said in a statement 12th, February that While celebrating love and affection , Nigerians should prioritize well-being. He counsels regular HIV testing and conversions around sexual health by partners.

These measures, according to the DG, contribute not only to personal health but also impacts the overall goal of building safer communities

“Love is a powerful force and by embracing responsible practices, we can ensure that it enriches our lives without compromising our health.

“NACA encourages individuals to adopt a comprehensive approach to love, which includes open communication, mutual respect, and responsible choices,” Gambo Said

He further expressed that on Valentine’s day, this year “The NACA will conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns to educate the public about the significance of both abstinence and safe sex practices, ensuring everyone stays well-informed.”

As at 2023, estimates by the Nigeria National HIV/AIDs Indicators and Impact survey places the number of people living with HIV at 1.9 million and the figure rises steadily
