The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally broken his silence on the gale of defections that rocked the National Assembly in the last 48 hours.
Tinubu whose opinion on the mass defection was captured by a Local Government Chairman in Lagos applauded President Buhari for having a large heart and described him as “a soft man” in the way he reacted to the defections, according to Precious Eze Blog.
He said, “What we achieved in the last 48 hours is that we have made sure that those that may leave the APC are those we can do without, we are lucky to have President Buhari at this particular time”, Tinubu was quoted to have said.
He further added, that “A soft man would have compromised because the blackmail is huge from many quarters expected and unexpected, just that I’ve not seen the type of blackmail I’m seeing currently before in politics, I’ve not also seen this type of courageously unperturbed President before too”.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday wished all the lawmakers, who defected from the All Progressives Congress to other parties, the “best in their future undertakings.”
The president said; “I wish all of our party members who today defected, the very best in their future undertakings.
“The APC has done its best to stop the defections, and I must commend the party leadership for working tirelessly to unite the party and position it for future victory.”
“I am confident that no harm or injury will be done by these defections, to the APC and its aspirations. I urge party faithful to not despair, but to instead see this as something that happens in seasons like this, on the eve of elections.
“As the saying goes, all politics is local. We understand that some of the Distinguished and Honourable lawmakers have issues in/with their home states, especially on zoning which bars some of them from seeking another term in their constituencies.
