The Nigerian Senate has made a passionate appeal to the negotiating team of the Federal Government to ensure the release of the remaining Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Shirabu, still in Boko Haram captivity.

The Senate appeal follows point of order from Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, on Thursday, appealing to the negotiation team of the Federal Government to expedite action to secure the release of the remaining girl.

In his contribution, Senator Abu Ibrahim, from Yobe disclosed that high level negotiations are underway to secure her.

He is optimistic Leah and the remaining Chibok girls held by Boko Haram since 2014 would return home soon.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over plenary, also joined in appealing to the Federal Government to urgently negotiate the release of the girl.

Leah and 109 other girls were abducted from their school in Yobe and Borno respectively.
