The Department of Mass Communication, Olabisi Onabajo University, twenty years after its establishment as a full fledged department, has begun a series of events to mark its fourth decade since it started in 2003.
The event which includes a week-long series of activities, commenced on Monday with an inter-departmental quiz and debate, to be concluded on 27th, November.
In attendance were communication students and academic staff from Yaba College of Technology, Mcpherson University and Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic. The Mass Communication department of YCT came tops, followed closely by the department of Mass Communication, OOU.
The icing of the week’s event which is to hold on Wednesday, will include a parade and lecture on ‘Media, Culture and National Integration’ with guest speakers and icons across Nigeria, including His Royal Majesty and father of the day, Oba Abdul-Rasaq Adesina Adenugba, the Ebumawe of Ago-iwoye; His Royal Highness, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, Towulade of Akinale.
The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Oyo state, Hon. wasiu Adewale Olatubosun; Member, House of Representatives, Badagary Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Sesi Oluwasegun, SAN and Managing Director, Eagle FM, Otunba Kunle Kalejaye; Head of Department, Kola Daisi University, Prof. Jendele Hungbo and veteran Nollywood star, Dele Odule will be in attendance.
Hosted by person of the Vice chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, through the Head of Department, Mass Communication, OOU, Dr Lanre Akinola, the lecture will explore the role of the media in fostering Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. and integration of the diverse ethnicities in our society.
