In a swift move following the impeachment of Comrade Philip Shaibu as Deputy Governor, Edo State Assembly has appointed 38-year-old Omobayo Godwins as the new deputy governor.
Earlier reports have it that the impeachment of Shaibu came after a thorough investigation by a seven-man panel probing misconduct allegations against the former deputy governor.
Omobayo Godwins, confirmed by the State House of Assembly, took oath at about 1:30 pm in a brief ceremony at the Government House in Benin City. The event drew supporters, government officials, and politicians.

Born on July 19, 1986, in Edo State, Omobayo boasts a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Benin.
