Olubadan Laid to rest in Ancestral home


The late Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Royal Highness Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Aliiwo.

The beloved monarch, who ruled Ibadanland for two years, breathed his last at the age of 81 on Thursday at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, after a brief but severe illness.

State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Bayo Lawal, led an array of government dignitaries to the family burial ground in Ibadan North Local Government Area to pay their last respects.

A solemn funeral service held at Mapo Hall from midday until1 PM, replete with prayers and tributes in honor of the late ruler, before the final interment at Aliwo.

Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere, the esteemed Imam of Ibadanland, presided over the burial ceremony and offered heartfelt prayers for the departed spirit of the monarch.

The Imam praised the late king, fondly remembered as a paragon of peace, for his unwavering honesty and dedication to the welfare of his people.

Senator Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, gracefully led the procession of Olubadan-in-Council members who had come to bid their final farewell to their dearly-departed ruler.
