NJC holds emergency meeting to review Onnoghen, Tanko misconduct allegations

The National Judicial Council today reconvened in an Emergency Meeting to considered the Report of the 5-Man Committee constituted to investigate the allegations of misconduct made against Justice Walter Onnoghen and Justice Tanko Muhammad.

According to a statement from the council’s director of information, Soji Oye, he said the Council decided that the allegations relating to assets declaration that were levelled against Justice Walter Onnoghen, were subjudice (before a court) and therefore abstained from considering them.

“A decision was also reached on the petitions written by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and others.

“This decision was conveyed to President, Muhammadu Buhari, due to the nature of the decision reached, it would be inappropriate to publicise it before conveying it to the President.”
