On Friday, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency said it was ready to go after shisha users.
The agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, claimed on Twitter that shisha was once classified as the same as tobacco, but that it has since been established that many additional compounds are added by users, resulting in drug misuse.
“For users of shisha, I have to say we are going to go after them. This is because it has been found that many other prohibited substances are added to shisha. So, users have to be careful.
The NDLEA representative also listed a number of additional chemicals that he claims are in use, noting that drug usage has resulted in the deaths of many young people.
