Members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Civil Society Organisation of Nigeria and the opposition parties are protesting over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen.

The protest is taking off from the NBA secretariat in Abuja.

None of the leaders of the body is available to comment on the ongoing protest.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday suspended Justice Walter Onnoghen and appointed Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed as the acting CJN.

President Buhari said that the development is based on the request of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, pending the completion of Onnoghen’s trial.

Following the CJN’s suspension, the NBA and the NJC will later in the day hold an emergency meeting.
