Multiple crashes along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway are believed to have killed a large number of passengers.
Two automobiles and a fuel tanker were engaged in the event, which occurred near the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM) Prayer City.
The Lagos-Ibadan expressway is notorious for road accidents, with at least 30 people killed so far this year.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, confirmed the collision in a short statement made available to reporters in Abeokuta on Thursday.
“On the outward stretch of the LAGOS-IBADAN Expressway, a multiple crash involving a Tanker and two other cars just occurred around Mountain of Fire Church,” she stated.
“A fire has broken out at the location. Drivers are encouraged to drive slowly and stay alert.
“There is an outbreak of fire at the scene. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and remain calm until the fire is extinguished.”
