Four Kano State kingmakers have filed a suit against Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the State Assembly over the creation of four new emirates in the state.
This was revealed on Wednesday in a writ of summon filed by the four kingmakers.
Others plaintiffs in the suit include the Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Audu Bako; the Attorney General of the state and the four new Emirs.
The four new Emirs which include the Emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar Ila; Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir; Emir of Karaye Ibrahim Abubakar 11 and the Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero were also sued by the kingmakers.
The four kingmakers which filed the suit are Madakin Kano, District head of Dawakintofa, Yusuf Nabahani; Makaman Kano, District head of Wudil, Abdullahi Sarki-Ibrahim; Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta, District head of Gabasawa, Bello Abubakar and Sarkin Ban Kano, District head of Dambatta, Mukhtar Adnan
The kingmakers sought to set aside the newly amended Kano State emirs appointment and deposition amendment law 2019. They also want to set aside the creation of the new Emirates in Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi.
A Kano State High Court has, therefore, asked the Kano State Governor, Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly and the other plaintiffs to appear before it.
This is coming few days after Governor Ganduje presented the staff of office to the four new emirs.
