The Jigawa State Government on Wednesday has ordered the immediate closure of public and private schools in the state based on intelligence report of possible security attacks on schools in border states.

The State’s Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa confirmed the development to newsmen in Dutse.

When asked about the fate of pupils and students sitting for examinations, Yunusa hinted that an arrangement will be made to re-conduct the exams since the exams were internal and not external.

For higher institutions in the state, the Commissioner asked them to follow suit when they perceived any security threat.

Dr. Yunusa however directed parents of students in boarding secondary schools to go and pick their children.
