Garri, a food commodity popular in southern Nigeria has topped the list of commodities which prices dropped appreciably in the second half of 2025.
FirstNigeriaTV had visited the famous Oja Oba market at Ibadan to compare prices of food commodities in the first and second quarter of 2025 and discovered the trend.
A popular rice and beans seller in the market, Alhaji Rasheed Raji said a bag of rice now costs between N76,000 and N78,000 opposed to about N82,000 in the first quater of this year. Beans also now goes for N65,000 now opposed to N70,000 early in the year.
A popular garri seller, Alhaji Abidemi Oduola also informed FirstNigeriaTV that early this year, a 50kg bag of garri went for an interesting N55,000 opposed to N90,000 early in the year.
A yam seller, Alhaja Aminat Adegoke said the popular yellow yam which cost N10,000 for six fairly-sized tubers early in the year now goes for N6,000. But she expects prices to go up again when the famous Abuja yam enters the market.
