Tinubu Travels To London Once Again
Former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has reportedly departed Nigeria for London, the United Kingdom (UK).
Details about the trip are still sketchy but Arise TV reports that Tinubu returned to the British capital to rest and run medical checkups after months of consultations with prominent Nigerians about his presidential bid.
Tinubu had earlier returned to the country from London on October 9, 2021 after about three months of medical vacation.
During his previous visit, Tinubu was said to have undergone a knee surgery which his media office said went successful “without complication” and that he “contemplates none in the future.”
Customs Seized Cocaine, 31,950 Litres Of Petroleum Products
The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has seized 11.913 kilograms of Cocaine estimated to be N3.916 billion and 31,950 litres of petroleum products worth over N10 million along Seme-Badagry expressway.
The command said the interceptions were made possible after it initiated an offensive patrol against the smuggling of petroleum products along the creeks within the Seme and Badagry axis.
In a statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC Hussaini Abdullahi on behalf of the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller, Bello Mohammed Jibo said the renewed effort led to the interception of large quantities of petroleum products packaged in sacks on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
He added that the items were successfully evacuated to the Command premises where an examination was conducted, adding that 1,065 jerrycans of petroleum products, 30 litres each, equivalent to 31,950 litres were discovered with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N10. 041 million.
Shops, Buildings On Fire As Fuel Tanker Explodes In Onitsha
The popular Ogbaru Relief Market near Onitsha, Anambra state is on fire.
The fire was caused by an explosion from a fuel tanker on Friday at Obodoukwu junction along Onitsha-Owerri road, Anambra State.
The fire which is still raging at the time of filing this report has burnt over 10 storey buildings, vehicles and tricycles.
No life has been lost yet, but goods and property worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire. However, fire services both from Anambra and Delta states arrived at the scene trying to put out the fire.
Just In: Jaruma released on bail
An Upper Area Court sitting in Zuba, Abuja has granted Hauwa Muhammed, popularly known as Jaruma bail after she was remanded in a prison in Suleja.
FirstNigeriaTv reports Jaruma was granted bail on Friday after she met her bail conditions of a surety on Grade Level 12 within the FCT.
Jaruma was on Wednesday, January 26 remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre after she was arraigned by the police for allegedly publishing false news, intimidating and defaming businessman Ned Nwoye and his wife, Regina Daniels.
Ruling on the bail application, the presiding judge, Ismail Abdullahi Jubril, said, “The court did not remand her in custody as a punitive means to penalise the defendant but to make her present and answer to her case. The judge adjourned the matter until February 23 for trial.
APC Chairman Accuse PDP Of Inciting Crisis In Ebonyi
The Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the state for inciting a crisis in the state.
The APC Chairman noted that the PDP fabricated lies against the governor on his directive on the declaration of the former House of Representatives member, Linus Okorie.
In his reaction, Chief Okoro-Emegha noted that the Governor only directed the police and other security agencies to declare him wanted for the malicious social media publication he made, which led to loss of life among other valuables in Ikwo local government Area recently.
The State APC Chairman, who is also the Special Security Consultant to Ebonyi State Government, reiterated the fact that fake news and hate speeches are worse than the unknown gunmen as they infuriate and spark up people to go into war against themselves for no justifiable reason.
Oyebanji Emerges Winner of APC Guber Primary Election In Ekiti
The former Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Hon. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship direct primary election held in Ekiti state on Thursday.
Oyebanji, from Ikogosi-Ekiti, in the central senatorial district and believed to be Governor Kayode Fayemi’s preferred aspirant was declared winner with 101,703 votes to defeat other seven aspirants who had earlier protested against the process and called for its cancellation.
The other Seven aspirants had withdrawn from the primary election and called for its immediate cancellation over alleged cases of fraud and malpractices.
The chairman of the APC primary election committee and governor of Jigawa state, Abubakar Badaru said the exercise which took place across the 177 wards in the state was peaceful, transparent and credible.
Fashion Praises Buhari, says he has done better than US gov
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration has more achievements than the United States government.
Fashola said this in Kano during the “APC conversation series”, on Thursday.
The series is the ruling party’s initiative of creating awareness on its achievements in the last seven years. The Minister said, “I can assure you that the present APC administration of President Buhari has achieved what even the US government is trying to do in terms of infrastructure.
“So, this is the positive change we promised Nigerians in 2015 and it is already happening. They say we are the same with them, but we are not. They stole money and took it abroad, but we are taking this money back and investing it in the area of infrastructure,” Fashola added.

The Founder of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, Dr. Olumide Phillips, has stepped down from office.
Phillips, who served as board chairman of the institution, also announced their (board) retirement in a statement signed by Tomi Borisade.

Hanifa’s Killer won’t go unpunished — Ganduje
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State, yesterday, said the killer of the five-year-old school girl, Hanifa Abubakar would not go unpunished.
The governor stated this during the State Executive Council, SEC meeting, held at the Government House in Kano.
Ganduje in a statement by his chief press secretary, Abba Anwar, promised speedy dispensation of justice on the killer to serve as punishment.
According him, “justice must be done as a punishment to the gruesome murderer of Hanifa Abubakar Abba, five year pupil, by one who was supposed to be her caregiver. The state will do everything possible to see that justice is done in this case. We also applaud security agents for tracking down the culprit.
Local Government Areas in Ogun State share N3.587bn in January
The 20 local government areas in Ogun State shared a sum of N3.587 billion, being the amount they received from the Federal Allocation for January, 2022.
The State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuwape, disclosed this during the January 2022 Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held in Abeokuta, the State capital.
Afuwape who said, presently, the statutory allocations from the federal government may not be sufficient for the council areas, advised them not to be discouraged but rather look inward on how to improve on their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The Commissioner charged the Chairmen to see the monthly JAAC meeting as an official engagement that requires utmost attention, in order to improve welfare and infrastructural development at the grassroots.
