POLICE ARRESTS SUSPENDED DCP ABBA KYARI

The suspended former head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari, has been arrested.

It was reported that the Police Boss also charged the Chairman of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig-Gen Buba Marwa (retd), to immediately arrest officers of the anti-narcotic agency engaged in drug crimes with accomplices of suspended cop, Abba Kyari.

In a statement issued by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on Monday, had recorded how Kyari belonged to a drug cartel that operates the Brazil-Ethiopia-Nigeria illicit drug pipeline.

The NDLEA also affirmed the possession of photo and video evidence against Kyari.

Lawmakers to hold public hearing on NYSC Trust Fund bill February 24

The House of Representatives will on Thursday, February 24, hold a public hearing on the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund bill.

It was reported that the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Major-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, stated this at the 2022 Batch ‘A’ Pre-Orientation Workshop on Monday, in Abuja.

According to him, the contemplation of the Bill for the Trust Fund is advancing steadily having passed second reading at the Green Chamber.

However, NYSC Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Ahmed Ikaka, highlighted that the workshop would review the previous orientation exercises, especially the challenges experienced as well as the best forms to allow the Scheme make necessary corrections during the forthcoming exercise.

BUHARI CONGRATULATES NEW OLUBADAN LEKAN BALOGUN

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated with Lekan Balogun on his appointment as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

It was reported that Buhari’s congratulatory message was announced hours after the Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, approved the appointment of Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The President in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, considered that the dedication of High Chief Balogun, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, in assiduously serving his people has rightly gained him the new position.

The president, however, extended best wishes of good health, wisdom and longevity to the new Kabiyesi.

POLICE DEBUNKS CLAIMS OF ATTACK ON AREGBESOLA’S CONVOY

The Police Command in Osun has opposed the report that the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, was attacked and shot at by hoodlums in Osogbo.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Yemisi Opalola, in a report on Monday in Osogbo, said that it was some of the minister’s escort that shot into the air without incitement, causing people to struggle for safety.

The Publicity Secretary of a clique of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Abiodun Agboola, had in a report alleged that Aregbesola’s convoy was attacked by some armed political thugs at Orisunmibare, Osogbo, while coming from Ilesa.

Agboola therefore added and prayed that the Almighty would continue to keep the good people of Osun State and the well wishers safe and sound.

ASUU did not inform us before embarking on strike – Adamu

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has reportedly disclosed that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) did not notify the Ministry of Education before commencing on its one month strike.

According to the statement, the Ministry only heard like any other Nigerian that the ASUU has commenced on a four week warning strike. Adding that the Ministry’s doors are always open for conversation but that no such avenue was observed before ASUU embarked on the strike.

A statement issued by the president said the union disinclined disruption of academic activities and was not insensitive to concerns of stable academic calendar in public universities.

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, however, sought the understanding and assistance of stakeholders to make the government more responsive to issues of health and education.

Gunmen kill 3 Policemen in Ebonyi

Three Policemen were on Monday Night apparently shot dead by unrecognized gunmen at the Ezillo axis of the Enugu-Abakaliki Express road in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According to the report, the policemen were at the roadblock for their regular stop and search, when the gunmen invaded the location and opened fire on them, killing three policemen on duty.

The attack in regards to the source was perpetrated late last night when residents of the area were still felicitating their Valentine’s night out and parties.

In a statement given by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Loveth Odah, however said that a squad of Police personnel had gone to visit the scene of the incident adding that, the command would give more details of the attack after the visit.

WAEC Releases WASSCE Result For Private Candidates 2021

The West African Examinations Council WAEC), has declared the release of the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, 2021 second series.

The council is also set to felicitate its 70th anniversary celebration from March 14 to 18, 2022, during its annual council meeting, in Abuja, which will proof an endowment fund address to be delivered by the former Commissioner of Education, Edo State, Prof. Ngozi Osarenren.

It was reported that Patrick Areghan stated that the results of 3,968 candidates, representing 7.71 percent of the entire candidates that did the examination are being withheld in connection with diverse reported cases of examination malpractice. The committee’s final decisions will thereafter, be communicated to the affected candidates.

However, candidates who wrote the examinations are now free to examine the details of their performance on the council’s results website. The Result Checker PIN and Serial Number needed by candidates to check their results online are embedded on the candidate’s Identity Photo Card used during the conduct of the examination.

ANTI-GRAFT WAR AS TOP MILITARY OFFICER LOSES N3.07 BILLION POSSESSION TO FG

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday fixed the final forfeiture of 20 landed properties estimated at over N3 billion and seven million belonging to a top military officer.

It was reported that Justice N. E Maha of the Federal High Court in Abuja, accorded the order while ruling on the application by counsel to the EFCC, Cosmos Ugwu and Musa Isah.

The forfeited property valued at over N3 billion, are located in different parts of Kano, Katsina, Calabar (Cross River State) and Kaduna which included fuel stations, event centers, plazas, block industries, truck assembly plant, polythene production factory and table water factory.

However, in the absence of any contestation, the court on Monday ordered the final forfeiture of the properties.

FG kicks-off 5-yr strategic roadmap on sustenance of effective humanitarian interventions

It was reported that the federal government, Monday, established a road map it developed support effective humanitarian interventions in the country.

The five-year planned roadmap,developed by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development was tagged: ”Mapping out a life of dignity for all” which initiated implementation, monitoring, evaluation, review and reporting mechanisms that will be positioned to ensure adequate results delivery.

A statement issued at the Launch of the ministry’s Strategic Roadmap 2021 – 2025, the minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, explained that the evolution was in fulfilment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive when she was assigned following to that effect.

However, it was reported that the intervention initiatives included the ederly people of age 70 years and above which President Buhari took into effect in the National Senior Citizens Centre Act, 2017, which sets a life of dignity and cater for the specific needs of the senior citizens who have spent their active years in the service of Nigeria.

ASUU DECLARES NATIONWIDE STRIKE

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared an absolute strike. The strike was announced at a press conference addressed by the President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, on Monday.

He issued in a statement that the strike which took effect from Monday February 14, 2022, would last for an initial period of four weeks.

It was reported that members of the union’s National Executive Council had held sequence of meetings since Saturday at the University of Lagos titled, ‘NEC for NEC.’ ASUU had enlightened and summoned lecturers and students across all universities to the reason the union might likely go on strike.

However, based on union’s renewed agitations, the co-chairmen of the National Inter-religious Council, visited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), last month, over the lack of implementation of the Memorandum of Action the government signed with ASUU in 2009 and others.

OXLADE FINALLY ADDRESS SEX TAPE, TENDERS APOLOGY TO FANS, LADY IN VIRAL VIDEO

It was reported that a Singer, Ikuforiji Abdulrahman, popularly known as Oxlade, has finally responded to his sex tape, which was circulated online during the week.

The musician has been in the news since the video revealing him and an unidentified lady in a sexual intercourse slam the internet.

In a statement via his Twitter page on Saturday night, Oxlade pleaded to his fans over the leaked sex tape. The crooner also pleaded with the lady in the video having said that she does not deserve to be exposed with such act.

However, the video clips escalated after another sex tape scandal involving singer, Tiwa Savage, which caused heated outrage across social media.
