Fake and substandard vehicle parts menace: MOMTAN to the rescue.

The age long war against the proliferation of fake and substandard vehicle parts in Nigeria is about to be won if ongoing negotiations between the Motor Mechanics and Technicians’Association of Nigeria and a Spanish company CECATO brings forth fruits.
Chairman, Lagos State Chapter, MOMTAN, Alhaji Maroof Arowolo gave a hint on this latest development meant to ensure motor vehicle owners had commensurate maintenance services for their money while auto mechanics regained lost credibility during the association’s recent and second delegates’conference held in Lagos.
According to him, the proliferation of fake and substandard vehicle parts in the country had caused a lot of pain to auto mechanics and vehicle owners to the extent that the association had a number of fora and media for sensitising vehicle owners on the mistrust ocassioned by abundance of such products.
He added that the collaboration with CECATO would be a test run for the upcoming of other foreign spare parts dealers to ensure availability of abundant genuine spare parts in the country in the near future.
He also thanked the Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode for facilitating work yard development through the supervisory Ministry of Transportation while promising to hasten modalities for sorting the issuance of certificates of occupancy.
