Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, has made a statement, backing Siminalayi Fubara as the leading figure in the state’s political power play, while sidelining current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Odili’s declaration came during the unveiling of a Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, facilitated by the Pamo Educational Foundation, an initiative of Odili and his family.
In his address, Odili urged Governor Fubara to disregard any power struggles, affirming that he has the people’s strong support. He stressed the need for governance over politics now more than ever in Rivers State.
Governor Fubara, in turn, lauded Odili for his philanthropic gesture, stating the facility’s significance for the Ndoni community. He applauds Odili’s commitment to using his persornal resources for public benefit.
It would be recalled that the rift between Wike and his former political protege, Fubara began when Fubara parted from the former governor, a disagreement that escalated with the defection of 27 lawmakers-believed to be wike’s loyalists-to the APC.
However, efforts towards reconciliation have since been initiated between the duo, including a peace pact by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
