The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has disclosed that Bank planned to reach out to 29.3 million people in African with electricity by 2020.

Akinwumi made this declaration at the High-Level Event titled “New Way of Working” under the theme ‘’From Vision to Action-National, Regional and Global Dimensions” at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa.
The project is in line with the bank’s High 5 development priorities and, its agenda is to provide electricity to Africa under the slogan ‘Light up Africa’. This is an initiative derived from the concept of ‘Triangles of Prosperity,’” generated from “jobs, wealth and environmental resilience.
He pledged support for Africans, saying the problem of lack of electricity requires that it be tackled in a new way to ensure development.
Meanwhile, United Nations agencies signed a “Commitment to Action” document at the World Humanitarian Summit in which they agreed on a New Way of Working on crises.
