In a move aimed at fostering reconciliation within the Edo State chapter of the APC, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the erstwhile governor of the state, has extended congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo for securing the party’s nomination in the forthcoming September 21, 2024 gubernatorial election.

Oshiomhole, representing the Edo North senatorial district, advised Okpebholo to transcend the complexities of the primary process and foster unity among fellow contestants and party stakeholders, emphasizing the important role of solidarity in securing the oncoming governorship race.

Furthermore, Oshiomhole hailed Okpebholo’s strategic decision to select his primary rival, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, as his running mate, which he noted was a manifestation of astute leadership and forward-thinking. This move, according to Oshiomhole, presents the electorate with the right option to usher in a progressive government that resonates with the state’s vibrant youth populace.

He further expressed confidence in Okpebholo’s leadership acumen and rallied the support of all party members across the state to restore Edo to the path of progressive governance, sustainable socioeconomic growth, and inclusive political representation.

Recall that the party’s rerun primary held on February 22, 2024, saw Sen. Okpebholo emerge victorious with 12,433 votes, while Hon. Idahosa garnered 6,541 votes.
