Dangote Oil Refinery will kickstart fuel production today as the first crude shipment is scheduled to reach the facility according to reports by S&P Global.
The OTIS tanker departed on December 6, laden with 950,000 barrels of Nigeria’s Agbami crude and is currently en route to Lekki, Lagos State, the closest land port to Dangote’s offshore crude receiving terminal.
Scheduled to dock around 8 p.m. on December 7, the arrival of this first shipment is significant for the commencement of Dangote refinery’s operations.
The $19 billion Dangote refinery also marks a significant milestone for Nigeria’s oil industry. In the words of the S&P Global report, “this shipment marks the initiation of crude supplies for the refinery’s operations,”
