Nigerian Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has picked out Chinwendu Ihezuo as man of the match in the latest Paris 2024 CAF women’s Olympic qualifiers clash with Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

The game saw the Super Falcons triumph over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana with a lone goal scored by Rasheedat Ajibade from a penalty kick in the first half.

Ihezuo’s moment came when she was brought down inside the penalty area by South African defender Noko Matlou, leading to the decisive penalty kick.

Waldrum lauded Ihezuo’s exceptional performance during the post-match press briefing at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, noting her brilliant hold-up play and relentless pressure on the opposing defenders.

Despite both teams’ efforts to find the back of the net after Ajibade’s penalty goal, the match ended with no further goals, thanks to impressive saves from both goalkeepers.

With this narrow win, the Super Falcons will head to South Africa for the return leg of the fixture next week. The outcome of the two-legged encounter will determine which team secures a spot as one of Africa’s representatives at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
