A15-man medical team from China has arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The team arrived Nigeria in a chartered Air Peace aircraft on Wednesday afternoon. Members of the team are experts in infectious diseases, respiratory illness, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anesthesiology.
The team arrived with 16-ton of test kits, ventilators, disinfection machine, disposable medical masks, drugs, infrared thermometer and other items ordered by the Federal Government. They are expected to assist Nigeria in efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehainre was at the airport to receive the medical team who will be spending the next 14 days in quarantine, in line with coronavirus protocol.
Meanwhile, doctors in Nigeria had earlier opposed the arrival of the Chinese doctors.
