Personally, I’ll disappear down the next hole if 50 policemen, allegedly from the IGP Response Team, should descend on my home and dismantle the gate as was reportedly done to the home of former MD of NDDC, Dr. Joi Nunieh, in Port Harcourt.
My flight into the hole would be supra-fast, considering that 4 am is dangerous time to follow anybody, least of all gun-wielding toughies who refused to adopt more civilized methods to arrest a suspect.
The biggest irony in the brigandage at dawn is that it was possible for the Force to raise 50 men to go and harass a defenceless lady at dawn but not possible for same force to confront and uproot bandits who forced govts to negotiate with criminals for terms to exercise authourity.
The disproportionate use of force eloquently testifies to dysfunctional focus which prevented the evolution of a responsible and efficient law enforcement institution in the country. Where force or bravado was required, they went with apology letter.
And where an ordinary society should’ve been arrested, for whatever reason, the multitude arrived in tanks to cause unnecessary commotion.
Meanwhile, bandits, who’ve almost shut down many areas in the north, earnestly await courageous security agents to dare them and ultimately restore security in large swathes of the federation that are outside the control and authourity of govt.
Now I know why my biggest nightmare/bully in class was the fattest coward on the west coast !
