Boko Haram insurgents, on Monday, regrouped and attacked Bakin Dutse village as they advanced to Gulak, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Many terrified residents were said to have fled the town and are hiding in the bush, mountains, and hills.
According to the Adamawa State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ahmad Sajoh, the Army and the insurgents were engaged in a fierce battle while residents fled for their lives adding that the government was monitoring the situation.
It was reported that the local Vigilante group in the town and the Hunters Association assisted the Military to repel the attack.
The Chairman of Madagali LGA, Alhaji Mohammed Yusuf, also confirmed the attack describing it as very heavy and likely to result in the loss of lives.
He stated that the latest attack comes barely 24 hours after two male suicide bombers entered the home of a family in Tsilah village near Madagali and held a woman and her daughter hostage saying they detonated the explosives strapped to their bodies killing the woman and her baby in the process.
