The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated yet again that its National Convention, which was originally set for February 26, 2022, will be delayed.
In a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, this was said (INEC).
In a letter signed by Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, and John Akpanudoedehe, Secretary, the party informed the commission of its plan to hold its zonal congress on March 26, 2022.
The party explained in the letter that, under its constitution, the zonal congress will take precedence over the national convention.
The APC has been delaying its national convention since Adams Oshiomole was suspended as the party’s national chairman in 2020, according to The New Diplomat.
Many party supporters have already expressed worries that the recurrent postponement of the APC Convention defies logic, as it has exacerbated the ruling party’s internal crisis just over a year before the national elections in 2023.
